Last Thursday at 1:30 our school done the big shake out. We had to DROP COVER AND HOLD for 40 seconds then evacuate to the top of a hill near Grey Main School. The Principal talked about what to do in an earthquake and a tsunami then we walked back to class in and orderly fashion.
Here is a safety video demonstrating the safety position for during an earthquake.
It is important to practice what to do so you don't panic in a real emergency.
Hey there Nikau,
ReplyDeletemy name is Jedi and I am a year eight in rimu class. I think that this post is awesome because, you have explained what happened, and added a video.
This reminds me of when our school did the same. I was in the middle of a student council meeting, and we weren't fully filled in on what was going on. So we didn't know when to go out.
I can't really think of something for you to improve on. Apart from a little wording mistake, everything is great.
Keep up the great work Nikau!

Hey Nikau.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Chloe I am a year 8 from Yaldhurst Model School.
I really like how clearly you explained the process of it, maybe next time you could add how people felt or how you even felt about it?
We did this too and the Student council was in a meeting so we had to drop under the table.
Then the bell went and we walked out to the big field. I am just curious what do you do went a Tsunami happens?
Well done!
Kind regards
- Chloe
