Area and Perimeter

We have been learning about working out area and perimeter.  They both measure 2D shapes but measure different parts of the shape.  Here is my DLO explaining are and perimeter.

Geometry

Today in Maths we were working on geometry.  We were given the word quadrilateral and we had to research what this meant. I did not know what a quadrilateral was but when I thought about the beginning of the word quad which means four it gave me a clue.  Here is what I found out.

Units of measurement

I have been learning measurement and I always thought that when you used a ruler you started at the first centimetre not on the zero so that is one thing I learnt. I learnt heaps more here is a drawing I made about what I know about length units of measurement.

WALT create an original pattern and describe it.

I liked using the different shapes to make our own pattern instead of copying someone else's.

I found it challenging to learn about elements and attributes.

My pattern has 3 elements and the attributes are colour and shape.
