Information Report 2

We also had to write an information report about a place. I chose The Arctic because it is actually just ocean.  There is no land but just ocean that is always covered by ice.  I hope that the Arctic does not melt because this could mean that many of the amazing animals that live there could become extinct!

Information Report Writing

This week we have been writing information reports.  First we had to write one on an animal or an insect.  I chose a dung beetle because they are found everywhere in the world including New Zealand.  I did not know that we had introduced them here in New Zealand.  They are actually quite interesting and useful beetles even if they do eat poo!

What Is Buoyancy

This week we are learning about the titanic. One of the tasks was to find out about buoyancy here is what I found. Hope you enjoy

Autumm Description

Last week for writing we were writing descriptions about Autumn. We had to describe what autumn was like using our senses and not using the word autumn.

This writing was easy because it is autumn at the moment so you could just look out the window and describe what you see. Here is my writing, I hope you enjoy.

Reading - The History of Lego

This week for reading we had to answer some questions about the history of Lego.  One of the activities was to find out about a Lego world record.  There were so many records about Lego that I decided to share some of them with you.

Morning Experience Writing

WALT: Visualise and write about an experience

This week for wriitng we had to write about the experience of waking up on a school morning.  I liked this activity because I got to tell the reader how I felt in the morning and how my mum reacted to how I felt.

As you can probably tell I am NOT a fan of getting up in the morning!  How do you feel about mornings?

Random Facts with Nikau: Day 6

Today I bring you a set of random facts on a topic close to my heart: The amazing, one of a kind haircut, "The Mullet"

There are heaps of different kinds of mullets with strange names like bowl cut mullet, shaggy hawk mullet etc.  In my facts you will see two mullets, the old school 80's hairdo or the modern mullet.

Which style would you be brave enough to wear?

I have an awesome mullet haircut (modern mullet) at the moment as do most of my rugby team.  Our coaches are very proud however our mums, not so much!

Anyway here are some random facts about this hairstyle.  I guess I won't be visiting Iran anytime soon.

When I was thinking about what else to add to my blog post today my mum found a virtual hairstyle website.  It was hilarious trying all the different styles. Here are some of our styles.  Which cut do you think I should get next?

I look forward to your comments.

Random facts with Nikau - Day 4

So today's facts are all about teeth.

We all have them and we all use them every day but what do we really know about them.

Well I know that teeth are a fantastic tool that can be used for lots of different purposes like chomping a juicy steak or opening a tricky chip packet or for chewing fingernails when you are feeling nervous.  Ok, maybe not the best use of teeth but people still do it. I also know that teeth are one of the reasons for constant nagging from my mum.  I wish I had one dollar for every time my mum has told me to clean my teeth in my life. I would be rich!

Anyway it was her nagging today that gave me the idea for today's random facts.  Thanks mum!  Here are my facts...

Random facts with Nikau: Day 3

Today I was playing with my Lego.  I have a lot of Lego, especially when it is tipped out ALL over my bedroom floor!

Anyway that got me to thinking about how much Lego there would be in the world so off I went on my random fact finding mission for today.

Find out some random Lego facts here.

I am not sure how they know that Lego would last for 1300 years in the ocean but that is a really long time and probably not good for the environment. Luckily my Lego is not leaving my bedroom floor anytime soon.  Sorry mum!

SLJ W1 D4: Individual Pursuits - Activity 3

For this activity I had to create a travel brochure for a country.  I chose The Maldives becuase it is a really tropical country that I would love to go to.  It has great places to swim, dive and explore.  Would you like to go to The Maldives and dive with Hammerhead Sharks?

SLJ W1 D4 - Individual Pursuits: Activity 2

For this activity I had to choose a new name. I decided I would choose a Maori name because I am Maori. I found this activity tricky because I actually like my name and it is the top Maori boys name for 2019 so if I could change my name I wouldn't. What would you change your name to if you could change?

SLJ W1 D4: Individual Pursuits - Activity 1

I thought this activity was cool because I like tennis and enjoy playing it myself. It is interesting and a bit sad how men get paid more then women.
